The journey includes a boat ride and a 3-kilometer jungle walk, where we may spot motmots, trogons, and the unique horned screamer. At Sandoval Lake, we’ll look for species such as the Hoatzin, Snail Kite, and various kingfishers.

Day 5: Departure from Sandoval Lake .

After breakfast, we’ll canoe across Sandoval Lake, followed by a 3-kilometer walk back to our motorized boat. We’ll then transfer you to Puerto Maldonado, with a stop at our office before heading to the airport. Depending on flight schedules, an early departure may be necessary.

Overview

Day 1: Birdwatching  Sandoval Lake Peru – Journey to the Heart of the Amazon .

Fly from Lima to Puerto Maldonado and be greeted by our team. Transfer to the River madre de Dios  dock and board a motorized canoe for a 50-minute ride to the Madre de Dios River confluence. From there, walk 3 km through the rainforest, spotting monkeys, birds, and butterflies. Paddle across Sandoval Lake to the lodge, keeping an eye out for otters, caimans, and other wildlife. Overnight at Sandoval Lake Lodge. (Lunch and dinner included) .

During the walks you will observe different birds of Peru

Day 2:  Birdwatching Lake Peru-  Exploring Bamboo and Floodplain Forests .

Dive into the Amazon’s bamboo and floodplain forests. Search for rare species like the Red-billed Scythebill, Rufous-headed Woodpecker, and Flammulated Bamboo-tyrant. Explore the terra firme forest and see the Brazil Nut tree in its natural habitat. After dinner, embark on a night walk to spot Tawny-Bellied Screech-Owl and Spectacled Owl. (All meals included)

Day 3: Amazon Rainforest Adventures

Immerse yourself in diverse rainforest landscapes. Wander through floodplain and terra firme forests, marveling at Brazil Nut and Kapok trees. Search for Giant River Otters and spot wildlife from monkeys to colorful insects. In the evening, paddle Sandoval Lake for a chance to see the elusive Black Caiman. Day 4: Departure from Puerto Maldonado

BIRDING MACAW CLAYLICK AND SANDOVAL OWBOW LAKE

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Chuncho Lodge -Birdwatcher South East Peru  .

Morning: Arrive from Cusco or Lima and drive to the Tambopata River.
Afternoon: Spot wildlife such as Scaled Pigeon and White-tailed Kite on the journey to Tambopata  Lodge. Take a 15-minute boat ride to the lodge and explore the surrounding trails.
Evening: Optional owling experience.

Day 2: Birdwatcher South East Peru – Macaw Clay Lick and Canopy Tower

Early Morning: 45-minute boat ride to witness the Macaw Clay Lick, where numerous parrots and macaws gather for minerals.
Mid-Morning: Return to the lodge with opportunities to spot wildlife like Jaguars and Capybaras.
Afternoon: Explore trails for understory flocks and visit the canopy tower for elevated birdwatching.

Day 3: Sandoval Lake

Morning: After breakfast, travel by boat and hike to Sandoval Lake, a hotspot for diverse wildlife. Look out for Scaled Pigeon, Blue-headed Macaw, and more.
Midday: Cross the lake and spot unique species such as Hoatzin and Agami Heron. Enjoy lunch at the Sandoval Lake .

Day 4: Final Explorations and Departure

Morning: Birdwatch in the lodge’s garden, seeking Rusty-margined Flycatcher and other species.
Late Morning: Return to Puerto Maldonado with a boat ride and Sandoval trail hike, then catch your flight.
