Wildlife Tours Sandoval Lake 4 days

This visit to the Wildlife Tours Sandoval Lake  – National Reserve allows us to enjoy the paradise of Lake Sandoval, The reserve is home to various animals, for example, giant river otters, turtles, black caimans, monkeys, birds such as the prehistoric bird Shansho, macaws, parrots, cormorants, kingfishers and others. which is in the middle of the primary jungle in its surroundings, allowing us to observe a marvelous wealth of wildlife where we will learn about the Amazon jungle of Peru.

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado –Adventure -Monkeys islan -Zipline  to  Sandoval Lake Lodge:

Arrival and pick-up at the Puerto Maldonado airport/bus terminal. 
Transfer to our tourist office to store luggage and get what you need.
Travel on our motor boat along the Madre de Dios River, observing wildlife along the way.

Arrival at the Sandoval Lake Reserve, stop at the checkpoint to register and then walk 3 km.
Overnight at Sandoval Lake Lodge and optional overnight hike.

Day 2:  Wildlife Tours Sandoval Lake  – Giant River Otters –

Depart early in the morning to see the sunrise and have the opportunity to see the giant river otters.
Bird watching and wildlife observation at Lake Sandoval.
Breakfast at the lodge followed by a walk through the jungle exploring the flora and fauna.
Dinner and night activities walks in the jungle

Day 3: Sandoval Lake Reserve – Macaw Palm Tree  -Wildlife Tours Sandoval Lake 

Early in the morning visit the Macaw Palm Tree to observe several species of birds.
Return to the hostel for breakfast.
Additional exploration of the Sandoval Lake Reserve, observing wildlife.
Lunch at the hostel and free time.
Ride in our rowing canoe to watch the sunset over the lake and night-time observation of alligators.
Dinner and overnight at Sandoval Lake Lodge.

Day 4: Sandoval Lake Lodge – Return to Puerto Maldonado

In the morning canoe ride on Lake Sandoval followed by a walk back to the checkpoint.
Transfer in our outboard boat along the Madre de Dios River to Puerto Maldonado.
Luggage collection at the tourist office and transfer to the airport/bus terminal.
End of service.

ITINERARY

Wildlife Tours Sandoval Lake  4 days

DAY 1: PUERTO MALDONADO – SANDOVAL LAKE

Our Tambopata Peru  Representative welcomes you and picks you up at the airport / bus terminal in Puerto Maldonado to take you to our office where he can leave your luggage not necessary for the trip. Then, we will transfer you to a local port where you will board a motorboat and cruise down the Madre de Dios River.

Along the way we observed several species of mammals such as turtles, birds, lizards, tortoises, alligators, after we will be able to see some species and then we will do the canopy walk, zip line, etc. ., then we will take our boat to reach the checkpoint of the Sandoval Lake Reserve and after passing a control, we begin to walk for 3 km (1 anbOur Representative welcomes you and picks you up at the Puerto Maldonado airport/bus terminal to take you to our office where you can leave your luggage not necessary for the trip.

Then, we will transfer you to a local port where you will board a motorboat and cruise down the Madre de Dios River. Along the way we observe various species of mammals such as turtles, birds, lizards, monkeys and much more, until we reach To Sandoval Lake Lodge where we will settle in before lunch is also served. Then we went for a walk into the surrounded jungle.

DAY 2:  Wildlife Tours Sandoval Lake – Giant River Otters .

Today we need to get up very early in the morning so we can be at the lake for sunrise and a hopeful encounter with the family of Giant Otters that frequent the lake and are most active at this time of day. Lake Sandoval offers abundant wildlife, including over 40 species of birds that reside on the margins of the lake, most of the fish-eating waterfowl around the lake also actively fish early in the morning, and this excursion should provide Excellent views of the prehistoric looking area. Hoatzins, these are easy to spot and will take lots of wildlife photos where we will use our paddle canoes.

After returning to the lodge where we will have our breakfast, and then we will take a long walk deep into the wildlife. which has a great variety of flora and fauna, looking for families of mammals, reptiles, birds, monkeys, peccaries, tapirs, toucans, as well as giant trees and many aerial plants such as lianas that grow together in a good reciprocal way of life. Good opportunity to climb and swing like a real Tarzan. Great experience! During this walk our expert guide will explain to you about medicinal plants after dinner back at the lodge.

Night activities night walk, we will spend the night at the Sandoval Lake lodge.

DAY 3: SANDOVAL LAKE RESERVE – MACAW PALM TREE

Another early awakening awaits us today as we head to the surroundings of Lake Sandoval where a large number of palm trees grow in its waters creating a swamp area.

This place is called Collpa de Palmeras and attracts several species of macaws and other parrots to eat sawdust from their palms since it contains sodium, calcium, potassium and other minerals that help them digest. Then, we return to the hostel to be given breakfast. Subsequently, we made a next trip to observe the impressive flora and fauna of the Sandoval Lake Reserve. We can see monkeys, deer, wild boars, tapirs or spectacled bears, just to name a few. For lunch we return to the hostel. Afterwards, we gave ourselves some free time to rest or enjoy a swim in Lake Sandoval (don’t worry, there are no piranhas or other dangerous animals during the day).

Then, we board a canoe to cross the lake to a place where we can better appreciate a beautiful sunset over the lake. At 7 pm we return to the lodge to have dinner while we wait for the moonlight, a good time to observe alligators again! We will spend the night at the Sandoval Lake lodge.

DAY 4: SANDOVAL LAKE LODGE –RETURN TO PUERTO MALDONADO

After breakfast, we first board a canoe to sail on Lake Sandoval and then walk back to the checkpoint and from there we continue sailing the Madre de Dios River by boat towards Puerto Maldonado. We collect our luggage at our office and then transfer to the airport or bus terminal.

Sandoval Lake Lodge is built from ecologically correct mahogany driftwood and is jointly owned by a nonprofit conservation group and five families of indigenous Brazil nut gatherers.
