Itinerary Heath River Wildlife Center 4 Days

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado/Heath River Wildlife Center   .

We will begin our trip with an exciting boat trip along the Madre de Dios River, heading to the Heath River Wildlife Center.

As we navigate the waters, you will enjoy a delicious cold lunch and pass the natural border between Peru and Bolivia.

When you arrive at the center, you will be greeted with a refreshing welcome drink made with local fruits.

After dinner, get ready to explore the forest with our flashlights, listening to the sounds of the jungle.

Day 2: Macaw Clay Lick and Ethno-Botanical Walk .

Early in the morning, we will board a canoe to head upstream to an exciting parrot and macaw clay lick.

After breakfast on our floating hideaway, marvel at the colorful

parade of birds that come to feed on clay, a unique experience for photography lovers.

Next, we will explore the forest on an ethno-botanical walk, learning

about the traditional uses of plants by the native Ese Ejas people.

Day 3: Visit to the Native Community of Sonene .

Another opportunity to visit the macaw clay lick at dawn before heading to the community of Sonene.

Interact with locals, learn about their customs and purchase handmade crafts.

At night, we will explore a nearby mammal clay lick, where tapirs

and other species come to eat.

Day 4: Return to Puerto Maldonado/Cusco/Lima

After breakfast, we will say goodbye to the jungle and head back to

Puerto Maldonado to board our flight back to Lima or Cusco, taking

with us unforgettable memories of this Amazonian adventure.

It is home to the only ecosystem of wet grasslands or savannas in Peru, a landscape that will leave you breathless.

Moreover, the Pampas del Heath National Sanctuary marks the natural boundary of South American tropical forests, extending majestically to the northeast. It’s truly a marvel of nature!

Itinerary Expedition Amazon Pampas Heath 5 days

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado to Heath River Wildlife Center Expedition –

Expedition Amazon Pampas Heath -Meet at Puerto Maldonado airport and journey to Tambopata Expedition River port.
Board motorized canoes and travel down the Madre de Dios River for approximately four hours.
Arrive at Heath River Wildlife Expedition on the Bolivian side, requiring passports for Bolivian passport control. (L, D)

Day 2: Heath River – Wildlife Center Rainforest -Expedition Amazon Pampas Heath

Early morning journey up the Heath River to the macaw and parrot clay lick.
Witness hundreds of brightly-colored parrots and macaws feeding on clay.
