Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Madre de Dios River – Monkey Island
Tambopata Eco Lodge Rainforest –Arrival and pick-up from Puerto Maldonado airport/coach terminal by our representative.
Transfer to our office to store unnecessary baggage for the trip.
Departure to the port of Puerta Capitania and board a motorboat for a scenic journey up the Madre de Dios River.
Along the river, observe diverse flora and fauna including turtles, birds, capybaras, and lizards.
Stop at Monkey Island (Isla de los Monos) to observe three monkey species.
Arrival at Eco Tambo Lodge, greeted with fresh fruit juice.
Accommodation in twin private rooms followed by a short rest.
Guided jungle walk to learn about local animals, plants, and ancient trees.

Day 2: Tambopata Ecolodge Rainforest – Sandoval Lake
After breakfast, we will board a motorized boat and navigate along the Madre de Dios River to the Sandoval Lake Reserve checkpoint.
Begin a 3 km hike through the rainforest to reach Sandoval Lake, then board a canoe to explore the heart of the lake.
Enjoy lunch while observing some of the lake’s most iconic wildlife, including giant river otters, black caimans, and a wide variety of bird species.
Return to the lodge for dinner, a refreshing shower, and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Piranha Fishing – Canopy Walk – Zipline

Tambopata EcoLodge Rainforest 4 days / 3 nights
Tour Description
Embark on a unique experience in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon with our 4-day, 3-night tour to Lake Sandoval, one of the most spectacular destinations in the rainforest. Perfect for nature lovers, photographers, birdwatchers, and adventurers seeking a deep connection with Peru’s biodiversity.
Day 1: Tambopata Ecolodge Rainforest – Puerto maldonado – to River Madre de Dios – River Monkey island .
Tambopata EcoLodge Rainforest -You are welcomed and pick-up from the airport/coach terminal of Puerto Maldonado by our Representative to take you to our office where you can leave your baggage not necessary for the trip. Then, we transfer you to the port of Puerta Capitania where you board a motorboat and navigate up the Madre de Dios River for an hour. On the way, we observe various flora and animal species such as turtles, birds, capybaras and lizards sunbathing on the river shores.
Then, we shortly stop at the Monkey Island (Isla de los Monos) to view some of its 3 monkey species. Later, we reach the Eco Tambo Lodge where we are welcomed by a fresh fruit juice! Afterwards, we accommodate ourselves in twin private rooms and enjoy a short rest. Later on, we follow jungle paths while our experienced Tour Guide explains us about local animals and plants such as trees having over 500 years of age (, medicinal plants, toucans, orioles, trogons, macaws, monkeys, butterflies, etc. We get back for dinner then.

Day 2: Tambopata Eco Lodge Rainforest – Sandoval Lake
After breakfast, we board a motorized boat and travel upstream along the Madre de Dios River to the Sandoval Lake Reserve checkpoint.
After registering at the control station, we begin a 3 km (1.9-mile) hike through the rainforest until we reach the beautiful Sandoval Lake.
Once there, we board a canoe to explore the lake while enjoying lunch surrounded by nature.
Sandoval Lake is home to an extraordinary variety of wildlife, including giant river otters, black caimans, pumas, the prehistoric-looking hoatzin (shansho), herons, cormorants, kingfishers, jacanas (commonly known as “Jesus birds”), red howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, white-faced capuchin monkeys, sloths, and many other species.
At the end of the excursion, we return to the lodge for dinner, a hot shower, and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Tambopata Eco Lodge Rainforest – Piranha Fishing – Canopy Walk – Zipline
This morning, we hike along rainforest trails to discover the remarkable biodiversity of the Amazon.
During the walk, your guide will introduce you to medicinal plants, ayahuasca vines, giant ancient rainforest trees, Brazil nut trees, and the rich flora that makes this ecosystem unique.
The forest is also home to an abundance of wildlife, including birds, mammals, reptiles, butterflies, and many other fascinating species.
Later, we head to the Gamitana River, where you’ll have the opportunity to try traditional piranha fishing.
Afterward, we return to the lodge for lunch and a short break.
In the afternoon, get ready for an exciting adventure in the rainforest canopy.
First, enjoy the Canopy Walk, crossing suspension bridges high above the forest floor for spectacular panoramic views of the Amazon from a completely different perspective.
The adventure continues with an exhilarating zipline experience, soaring through the treetops at a height of approximately 30 meters (98 feet).
Finally, we return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Tambopata Eco Lodge Rainforest – Madre de Dios River – Puerto Maldonado
After breakfast, we board our motorized boat for the return journey to Puerto Maldonado along the Madre de Dios River.
Upon arrival, we collect any stored luggage from our office before transferring you to the airport or bus terminal according to your departure schedule.

Important Information
Yellow fever vaccination is strongly recommended before traveling to the Amazon.
We also recommend bringing antimalarial medication after consulting your physician, as well as insect repellent, sunscreen, lightweight clothing, a rain jacket, comfortable walking shoes, and a reusable water bottle.
