Start your journey with a hearty breakfast, fueling up for an exhilarating day ahead. We set off on a motorboat, cruising along the pristine Madre de Dios River. As we approach the Sandoval Lake Reserve checkpoint, anticipation builds for the natural wonders that await us.
Once through the checkpoint, we’ll embark on a scenic 3-kilometer trek through the lush jungle—about an hour and a half of immersive exploration. This walk will lead us to a charming port, where our traditional rowing canoe awaits.
As we paddle through a winding, serpentine canyon, keep your eyes peeled for the vibrant wildlife that calls this area home. After approximately 90 minutes of serene paddling, we’ll arrive at the stunning Sandoval Lake.

After a delicious lunch, we’ll head back out onto the lake, this time in search of its iconic inhabitants: playful giant river otters, stealthy black caimans, and a variety of exotic birds like herons, cormorants, and kingfishers.
As the sun begins to set, we’ll indulge in delightful pastries right from our canoe, soaking in the breathtaking colors of the Amazon sky. After dinner, we return to the lake for an exciting nighttime excursion. This is the perfect opportunity to spot nocturnal wildlife, including elusive alligators, turtles, and a chorus of nighttime birds.
