Situated just beyond the eastern slopes of the Andes Mountains, the expansive 3.7 million-acre Tambopata Reserved Zone harbors nearly 1000 bird species and four of the Amazon Basin’s apex predators: the Jaguar, Giant Otter, Harpy Eagle, and Black Caiman. Within this safeguarded haven of luxuriant tropical rainforest, overlooking what many rainforest experts regard as one of southern Peru’s most captivating lakes, you’ll find Sandoval Lake Lodge.

Sandoval Lake Lodge stands amidst the heart of the Peruvian Amazon jungle, resembling an ecologically sound floating structure. This property is collectively owned by a non-profit conservation group and five families of indigenous Brazil nut collectors. These families arrived many years ago and continue to uphold the integrity of this natural reserve.
The dining room offers ample space with a stunning view of the lake. Electricity is available during specific times of
the day, such as breakfast, lunch, and dinner, providing the opportunity to charge cameras, cell phones, batteries, and more.

Our guides are local and indigenous individuals hailing from various communities across Peru. They specialize in
conducting tours within this natural reserve, sharing their extensive knowledge of the flora and fauna that they are expert in.
Our guides are proficient in English and possess the ability to bring the rainforest and lake to life. Each guide has
their own specialization, interests, and a broad vision and mission to fulfill through imparting their comprehensive
knowledge of the Amazon tropical forest.
The lodge itself is run by members of the local communities, who contribute their collective skills and expertise to
ensure an exceptional experience.
