RAINFOREST TOUR – BEHAVIOR OF TRIP PERU MACAWS.
After eating they fly towards the rivers with clay cliffs. They gnaw on clay and consume large amounts. The clay is believed to absorb toxins from some of the seeds that only scarlet macaws are capable of eating (Attenborough, 1998). Scarlet macaws can be found on the clay licks from 9am to 1pm. m., with a feeding peak during the hours of 10 to 11 a.m. m. Scarlet macaws in the treetops carefully choose a section
of the chuncho lodge clay lick before proceeding to feed, as their vocalizations increase chuncho amazon tour – macaws begin to climb the vines, using their feet and beak, towards the clay lick chuncho lodge. Once a bird lands on a section, others quickly follow and remain on that section. In the clay lick they are very noisy and make loud contacts or flight calls when a predator is nearby. The rainforest tour macaw lick’s chuncho roost area also facilitates socialization where pairs spend more time preening (using their beak to straighten and clean feathers) with each other.
