The Amazon Trips  Ayahuasca Ceremony 4-Day.

Tambopata Tour: Nature, Adventure, and Ayahuasca Ceremony

Discover the magic of the Peruvian Amazon with our 4-day, 3-night Tambopata tour, an experience that combines biodiversity, adventure, Amazonian culture, and a traditional ayahuasca ceremony. Explore the lush rainforest of Madre de Dios, cruise along the Madre de Dios River, observe wildlife in its natural habitat, and discover some of the most fascinating landscapes of Tambopata National Reserve.

This program is designed for travelers who want to connect with nature, discover the richness of Amazonian wildlife, and enjoy a unique cultural experience accompanied by local guides.

Over four days, you will enjoy tropical rainforest hikes, excursions to Sandoval Lake, monkey and birdwatching, adventure activities, and a traditional ayahuasca ceremony led by an experienced facilitator, subject to the applicable safety requirements and protocols.

Day 1: Arrival in Puerto Maldonado and Tambopata Rainforest Adventure

Activities: Transfer to the lodge, boat trip along the Madre de Dios River, guided rainforest walk, and nighttime caiman spotting.

Your adventure begins when you arrive at the airport or bus terminal in Puerto Maldonado, in the Madre de Dios region of Peru. Our team will welcome you and provide the necessary information before beginning your journey into the heart of the Amazon.

From the city, you will travel by boat along the Madre de Dios River to our eco-lodge, surrounded by tropical vegetation and the characteristic sounds of the rainforest. Upon arrival, you can enjoy a drink made with Amazonian fruits and settle into your room before starting the activities.

After lunch, you will embark on an interpretive rainforest walk accompanied by a local guide. Along the way, you will learn about medicinal plants, native trees, and the adaptations of the species that inhabit this ecosystem. With a little luck, you may spot monkeys, butterflies, tropical birds, and other wildlife.

Later, you will visit Monkey Island, where you will have the opportunity to observe different primate species in their natural environment while respecting their space and behavior.

At dusk, you will join a river excursion to look for caimans along the riverbanks. You may also observe other nocturnal species, depending on natural conditions.

You will return to the lodge for dinner and a relaxing evening surrounded by the sounds of the Amazon rainforest.

Day 2: Sandoval Lake and Amazonian Wildlife Watching

Activities: Excursion to Tambopata National Reserve, forest hike, rowing boat ride, and nighttime rainforest walk.

After breakfast, you will head to the famous Sandoval Lake, one of the best-known natural attractions in the Madre de Dios region. This excursion will allow you to discover an Amazonian ecosystem rich in biodiversity and enjoy an ideal setting for wildlife observation.

After traveling by boat, you will continue on foot along a forest trail approximately 3 kilometers long, depending on trail conditions and your guide’s instructions. During the hike, you will discover the vegetation of the tropical rainforest and learn about the importance of conserving natural habitats.

Upon reaching the lake, you will explore its calm waters in a rowing boat. This quieter way of traveling helps minimize noise and encourages a respectful wildlife-watching experience.

Species you may encounter include hoatzins, herons, ospreys, capuchin monkeys, and howler monkeys. With some luck, you may also spot the endangered giant river otter, as well as caimans and other species native to Amazonian wetlands.

After the excursion, you will return to the lodge for lunch and some time to relax.

At night, you will join a guided walk to discover the rainforest’s nocturnal activity. You may encounter frogs, insects, spiders, and other small animals that reveal the extraordinary diversity of the Amazon after sunset.

Day 3: Amazonian Adventure and Traditional Ayahuasca Ceremony

Activities: Hanging bridges, birdwatching, zip-lining, kayaking or river activities, and a traditional ayahuasca ceremony.

Start your day with a panoramic experience on the canopy walkway or hanging-bridge circuit, if included in your selected package and available. From the elevated platforms, you will enjoy views of the forest canopy and discover the rainforest from a different perspective.

Weather and environmental conditions permitting, you may spot toucans, macaws, and other birds moving among the treetops. This activity offers a better understanding of the structure of the tropical forest and the importance of preserving its different vegetation layers.

After breakfast, you may participate in adventure activities such as Amazonian zip-lining, subject to availability. Participants must follow the instructions of the responsible staff and use the appropriate safety equipment.

Later, you will enjoy a water-based activity on the Madre de Dios River, which may involve kayaking or another authorized watercraft, depending on river conditions and the confirmed itinerary. You may also learn about traditional Amazonian fishing techniques when this activity is available.

Ayahuasca Ceremony in the Peruvian Amazon

After the daytime activities, the program includes a traditional ayahuasca ceremony, a practice associated with certain Indigenous and mestizo traditions of the Amazon.

The ceremony will take place in the evening at a time confirmed in advance with the activity facilitator. During the gathering, the facilitator will explain the cultural significance of the practice and the guidelines participants are expected to follow.

For travelers interested in Amazonian spiritual traditions, this experience may offer an opportunity for cultural learning and personal reflection. However, individual experiences vary, and no emotional, spiritual, or therapeutic outcomes can be guaranteed.

Ayahuasca is a psychoactive preparation that can cause intense physical and psychological effects and may interact dangerously with certain medications and health conditions. Participation must be voluntary, preceded by an appropriate safety assessment, and conducted under suitable safety protocols. Alcohol and other substances should not be consumed during the experience, and participants should disclose relevant medications and medical history to the responsible professionals.

After the activity, you will rest at the lodge before the following day’s return journey.

Day 4: Farewell to Tambopata and Transfer to Puerto Maldonado

Activities: Breakfast, return boat trip, and transfer to the airport or bus terminal.

After breakfast, it will be time to say goodbye to the Amazon rainforest. Depending on your departure schedule and river conditions, you will board the boat for the return journey to Puerto Maldonado.

During the trip, you can enjoy a final view of the landscapes along the Madre de Dios River and the lush vegetation that characterizes this region of Peru.

Upon arrival in the city, you will be transferred to the airport or bus terminal, according to prior arrangements and the services included in your booking.

Your 4-day Tambopata tour will conclude with a memorable experience combining nature, wildlife observation, adventure, and an introduction to Amazonian traditions.
