Amazon Green Tambopata Tours -Here we present an extended version of our 4 day itinerary with a highly recommended extra day to make the most of this wildlife rich rainforest tropical green environment in amazon green.
This Eco amazonia is easily accessible from the friendly and fascinating jungle town of Puerto Maldonado, a major centre of the timber, gold mining and eco-tourism industries in the Southern Peruvian . Puerto Maldonado is itself easily accessed from Lima and Cusco due to excellent local air links. From Puerto Maldonado our lodge is approximately 3 hours away and the journey – a thirty minute boat ride, followed by a short jungle green hike and finally a paddle to our jungle home by catamaran – is fascinating in itself. In an ox-bow lake, a curve of the Madre de Dios River cut off by the river changing course.
These quiet and beautiful habitats are wonderful places for wildlife watching, whether exploring the rainforst green in silence by catamaran, with only the sound of our craft’s paddles for company, or walking trails with experienced nature guides through diverse forest habitats.

Tours Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Amazon Green Eco Lodge Inn
Amazon Green Tambopata Tours -Flight to Puerto Maldonado: Arrive in Puerto Maldonado from Lima or Cusco and meet your naturalist guide at the airport.
Transfer to Lodge: Board a dugout canoe for a journey up the river to Amazon Green Tambopata Tours lodge.
Introduction to Rainforest: Enjoy a box lunch on board and observe the changing vegetation from deforested areas to virgin rainforest.
Afternoon Walk: Set off for an introductory walk into the “terra firme” forest behind the lodge.
Night Walk: After dinner, embark on a night walk to observe nocturnal animals or insects.
Tours Day 2: Hike to Lake Condenado – Macaw Clay Lick Chuncho
Hike to Lake Condenado: After breakfast, embark on a hike to explore the lake system of Condenado, rich in bird and aquatic life.
Trip to Macaw Clay Lick: Return to the lodge for lunch, then continue the journey upstream to the Macaw Clay Lick “EL CHUNCHO.”
Wildlife Observation: After dinner, go searching for animals like Capybaras, Caimans, Tapirs, and Jaguars along the banks of the Tambopata River.
Camping: Camp on the beach near the Clay Lick “EL CHUNCHO.”
Tours Day 3: Collpa El Chuncho – Return to Eco Lodge
Visit to Clay Lick: Pre-dawn start to witness Macaws and smaller parrots visiting the clay-lick for minerals and salts.
Morning Hike: Return to the lodge for lunch after a late morning hike.
Nocturnal Wildlife Search: In the evening, go searching for Caimans and other nocturnal animals by canoe along the Tambopata River.
Tours Day 4: National Reserve Eco Lodge – Return to Puerto Maldonado/Airport
Departure: Return to Puerto Maldonado according to the group’s flight schedule.
Wildlife Observation: Take advantage of the morning to observe wildlife before departure.
Assistance: Your guide will assist you in returning to the airport for your flight.
Additional Days at Macaw Clay Lick (Collpa):
Extended Stay: Possibility of additional guided or unguided days exploring the vicinity of the Clay Lick.
Activities: Explore trail systems, visit hidden lakes, or take trips up river to clear forest streams.
Full Board: Full board is included during each additional day
ITINERARY
Amazon Green Tambopata Tours 4 days / 3 nights
Tours Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Amazon Green Eco Lodge Inn.
Flight to Puerto Maldonado, and journey to the lodge Amazon Green Tambopata Tours . Following your morning flight to Puerto Maldonado from Lima or Cusco, you will be met at the airport by your naturalist guide and transferred to a dugout canoe for the trip up the River to the lodge Inn .
On the journey the vegetation changes from colonized deforested areas to virgin rain forest. A box-lunch is provided on board. On arrival you’ll have a welcome drink and meet the rest of the staff. In the late afternoon you set off for an introductory walk into the “terra firme
” forest behind the lodge (Trail 2), dominated by giant Brazil-nut and Dipteryx trees. Frequently seen mammals on this trail are Saddle-back Tamarinds, Brown Capuchins, Agoutis, Pacas, Blue-Morpho butterflies, Trogons, Toucans and many other species of birds this specie in rainforest green trip.
After dinner a night walk to find nocturnal animals or insects by the eye-shine a specialization for increasing the light and see better, about 50% of the animals are nocturnal in the rainforest.
Tours Day 2: Hike to Lake Condenado – Macaw Clay Lick Chuncho – Amazon Green Tambopata Tours
Hike into wild green to Lake Condenado & trip to the Macaw & parrot Clay-lick “EL CHUNCHO” (Collpa). After an early breakfast you and your nature guide will board the motorized canoe . once again for the short journey to the trail head to begin a morning’s exploration by foot and paddle canoe .
of the lake system of Condenado, rich in bird and aquatic life. A family of Giant Otters lives in the vicinity of the lake and are often observed rainforest Green . Birds abound especially Rufescent Tiger-herons, Great Egrets, Wattled Jacanas, Hoatzin, the noisy Donacobius and many others.
Remember to bring your hat and sun cream for there is no shade out on the water. You will return to the lodge in time for lunch. After lunch you return to the canoe to continue the journey upstream, a further 2 hrs, to an area deep within the Reserve .
where the isolated MACAW & PARROT CLAY LICK “EL CHUNCHO” is situated. This Collpa is actually the second large clay cliffs lining the Tambopata River in this area. After dinner you will go searching for some animals like Capybaras, Caimans, Tapirs, and the famous Jaguar .

Tours Day 3: Collpa El Chuncho – Tambopata Eco Lodge Inn to Amazon Green Tambopata Tours
Visit the Clay Lick “EL CHUNCHO” and return to Eco Lodge. A pre-dawn start is needed to get to the clay-lick before the birds. They arrive in search of minerals and salts and the digestive properties of the clay particles themselves.
On average several dozens Macaws and smaller parrots visit the clay-lick daily, including Scarlet, Blue and Yellow, Red and Green, and Chestnut-fronted and Blue-headed parrots, among others. Following a late morning hike we return down river to the lodge for lunch.
At night you will go searching for Caimans (alligators) and other nocturnal animals by canoe along the Tambopata River. Night in the Tambopata Eco Lodge. (B, L, D).
Tours Day 4: National Reserve Eco Lodge – Return to Puerto Maldonado /Airport .
Departure. Time to return to the city of Puerto Maldonado is scheduled according to flight time of the group. In the mornings you can see the wildlife that is particularly active at this time, are frequently heard howler monkeys or stop.
Your guide will give support to his arrival in Puerto Maldonado and will relocate to the airport and assist you on your flight.
Additional days at the Macaw Clay Lick ( Collpa ):
Any number of extra days in the vicinity of the Collpa, over and above the aforementioned program, is possible. These can be guided or unguided according to your preference and interests. During these days you can either; explore the trail system
in more depth, going further a field along trails not visited before; visit a small lake hidden amongst the trees with a floating viewing platform situated in it; take a trip up river to explore a clear forest stream teeming with fish. Full board is included during each of these days.

Amazon Green Peru
Amazon green is located in the same reserve as the tambopata national reserve. Where the tropical forest is a green savannah during the years, this Peruvian Amazon has a greater diversity of species. Throughout the year it is green
because the land is very humid. This place is very special because the largest clay lick in South America was discovered. In this green natural area inhabits the 7 species of aras (macaws). Which are in extinction during the
years they found their natural habitat. At the edge of the river there are large walls of salty clay, where every morning this time and others congregate to eat this clay and other mammals during the day and night,
