Day 1: Arrival and Lodge Orientation Amazon conservation project

Settling In: Check-in and settling into cozy bungalows.

Day 2: Lake Sandoval Exploration and River Adventure

Boat Ride: 45-minute boat ride upriver to Tambopata National Reserve entrance.
Lake Sandoval Trek: Trek to Lake Sandoval and rowboat journey on the tranquil waters of the lake.
Wildlife Spotting: Keep an eye out for wildlife such as giant river otters, howler monkeys, macaws, and black caimans.
Snack Break: Pause for a snack by the water’s edge.
Return Rowboat and motorboat ride back to the lodge.

Day 1 : Itinerary Brief Amazon conservation project
Amazon Conservation Project – Arrival in Puerto Maldonado welcomes you with a reception at the airport or bus terminal. From there, we’ll transfer you to the boat wharf for a scenic 1-hour boat ride to the Amazon Conservation Lodge. Along the way, immerse yourself in the local flora and fauna, soaking in the natural beauty of the surroundings.
Once you arrive, settle into your cozy bungalow, your home during this adventure. An introductory walk around the lodge and its trails will familiarize you with your environment. Enjoy a delightful dinner before you retire for the night to rest and rejuvenate.
The next morning starts with a hearty breakfast followed by engaging trail walks, where you’ll explore platforms and bridges that offer unique perspectives. Don’t miss the chance to visit the highest tree canopy platform in South America, a true highlight of the journey. A visit to Taricaya and the animal rescue center will introduce you to the region’s conservation efforts, and the Butterfly House adds a touch of vibrant beauty to your experience.
After lunch, you’ll participate in the Mahogany reforestation project and learn about the Turtle project. A period of rest prepares you for an exciting Caiman search after dinner. A good night’s sleep awaits you, and the morning brings another delicious breakfast.
On another day, a trip to Lake Sandoval promises adventure, followed by a satisfying lunch and some relaxation time. Later, explore the waterways in inflatable boats and enjoy dinner before you turn in for the night.
As your journey comes to an end, enjoy a final breakfast before embarking on your return to the airport or bus terminal. This immersive experience in the heart of the Amazon will leave you with memories to cherish forever.”
Day 2 : Amazon conservation project
“Start your day with an early breakfast, fueling up for the adventure ahead. Hop onto a boat for a 45-minute ride upriver, taking you to the entrance of the Tambopata National Reserve. From there, your trek to Lake Sandoval begins. Glide in a rowboat on the tranquil and pristine waters of the lake, surrounded by mirror-like reflections and breathtaking scenery. Keep your eyes peeled for a range of wildlife, including the rare giant river otter, charismatic howler monkeys, vibrant macaws, and elusive black caimans.
Pause for a snack at the water’s edge, savoring the moment and the natural beauty that surrounds you. Continue your rowboat journey around the lake, taking in even more of its captivating vistas. The experience culminates with a leisurely walk back to the river, where you’ll board a motorboat to return to the lodge.
Lunch and relaxation follow, providing you with the chance to recharge for the next part of your day’s adventure. Later, you’ll navigate the Madre de Dios River in your very own inflatable boat, an intimate and immersive way to explore the waterways. As you paddle, keep an eye out for turtles, monkeys, graceful herons, and a variety of other bird species. The icing on the cake is the stunning backdrop of the sun setting over the river, creating a picturesque scene that will stay etched in your memory.

Embark on a 1-hour boat journey, retracing your path along the serene Madre de Dios River, guiding you back to Puerto Maldonado. If your schedule allows, take a leisurely stroll through the vibrant local markets. Here, you’ll encounter an array of offerings ranging from fresh fish, meats, and fruits to captivating local arts and traditional medicines. As you immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere, absorb the rich tapestry of the local culture.
Finally, it’s time to head to the airport, carrying with you the cherished memories and the vibrant spirit of the Amazon, forever etched in your heart and mind.
