ITINERARY
Tambopata Tours Macaw Clay 5 Days /4 Night
Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Tambopata Lodge
Arrive in the city of Puerto Maldonado and be greeted at the Airport/Terminal. We’ll wait for you for 30 minutes upon arrival with your respective names.
Transfer to the office to drop off heavy belongings and proceed to Tambopata Tours.
From there, we’ll transfer in our private vehicle through the Amazon rainforest to the next port, approximately a 2 hours and 30 minutes journey.
At the Tambopata Tour port, a speedboat will be waiting to navigate up the Tambopata River.
Along the river, observe various species on the riverbanks such as turtles, caimans, and capybaras, with the possibility of spotting jaguars. By afternoon, arrive at our lodge,
TAMBOPATA LODGE INN,
where a local welcome drink will be served. Accommodation in respective rooms. In the afternoon, explore the trails with a guided walk through the virgin jungle, learning about important medicinal plants such as ayahuasca and chacruna.
During the walk, observe different species of monkeys, large birds, and giant trees over 600 years old reaching heights of up to 100 meters. Optionally, enjoy a nighttime boat

Day 2: Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick – Adventures
Today, wake up early to experience wildlife in the Amazon at dawn, with fresher, purer air. Board our speedboat to travel up the Tambopata River to the Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick. During the boat ride, have more opportunities to observe wildlife along the Tambopata River.
Throughout the year, dozens of large macaws and hundreds of parrots gather at this salt lick wall on the riverbank. It’s a marvelous spectacle.
Discretely positioned 60 to 80 meters from the cliff, observe green, scarlet, blue, and gold-winged macaws, as well as other parrot species descending to ingest the salt clay, along with other large and small animals that gather here every morning.
Breakfast will be served facing the Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick, representing an explosion of colors and sounds. After the spectacle, return downstream on our boat, observing different species along the riverbanks.
After lunch, embark on an adventurous kayak tour on the river or creek, depending on your preferences. This activity offers great opportunities to see capybaras, turtles, and river birds.
Return to the lodge in the evening. At night, enjoy a boat activity to observe caimans, birds, and turtles on the Tambopata River.
Day 3: Trekking in Tambopata Reserve
Today, embark on a unique experience exploring the Tambopata Reserve, delving into its different primary, virgin, tropical, and rainforest ecosystems. Trek along trails, crossing streams on typical rustic bridges.
Observe monkey species such as brown capuchins and red howler monkeys, as well as peccaries, deer, wild pigs, sloths, and armadillos.
There’s a possibility of spotting tapirs and jaguars. Learn survival tips from your guide, such as orienteering using the sun or plants.
After lunch, engage in an artisanal fishing activity on the Tambopata River, offering a variety of fish species.
Return to the lodge to capture the best sunset photographs of the Amazon rainforest. After dinner, embark on a guided night hike with our specialist, with the chance to
encounter unique nocturnal species and learn about Amazonian insects while enjoying the unique sounds of the forest.
Day 4: Exploring Primary and Wet Forests of the Peruvian Amazon
Another day of exploring the Amazon rainforest. After enjoying a delicious typical breakfast, embark on a hike through a very different forest filled with flooded plains for a half-day adventure.
Cross the Tambopata River and then hike for 2 hours through these forests until reaching Lake Quiroz, a small lake inhabited by active caimans, turtles, and anacondas during the day.
It will be a pleasant hike through this magical jungle of the Tambopata National Reserve, focusing on the forest and ecology. In the afternoon, after lunch, visit a local
farm filled with locally grown products such as bananas, cassava, citrus fruits, and corn, with the opportunity to learn about many plants with medicinal properties shown by the local guide.
On our last afternoon in the jungle before bidding farewell, you’ll have the option of a nighttime hike, when most mammals are active but rarely seen.

Day 5: Tambopata Reserved /Puerto Maldonado /Airport/Land Terminal.
Depending on the time of your flight departure, we can offer you an optional jungle walk to answer any questions you may have about your jungle experience.
It’s time to say goodbye as the expedition comes to an end.
We will embark on our boat downstream to the port where our private transport awaits us for the return to the city of Puerto Maldonado.
Then transfer to the Airport / 2 hours before your flight departure to check in your plane ticket. Other transfer to the bus terminal 40 minutes before your bus departure.
