To enter, you must take a tour with a travel agency or be accompanied by a registered guide. Observe the clay lick where you can see species like parrots, Bolivian parrots, and green parrots.

ITINERARY
Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Amazon Tours Lodge
Your Amazon journey begins with a warm welcome as we pick you up from the Airport/Bus Terminal. After a smooth transfer to our office for check-in before the Amazon Tours, we set our sights on the port, where anticipation builds for the adventure ahead.
As we glide along the majestic Madre de Dios River in our outboard motorboat, the rhythm of the water transports you to a world of wonders. Upon arrival at our lodge, you’ll settle into your comfortable room, embracing the tranquility of the rainforest.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there. We embark on a charming visit to Monkey Island, where you’ll be captivated by the antics of Capuchin, Black, and White Monkeys. This encounter is just a prelude to the enriching experience that awaits you.
Next, a cultural immersion like no other unfolds as we connect with a native family.
Interacting with these ancestral warriors and hunters,
absorbing their customs and art. This personal encounter allows you to support their craftsmanship while gaining a profound understanding of their heritage.
As the sun begins to set, we venture to a serene stream, casting our lines for a rustic fishing experience. Day 2: Expedition to Lake Sandoval – Symphony of Nature at Amazon Tours
After a delightful breakfast, immerse yourself in the captivating wonders of Lake Sandoval. Guided by our expert naturalist, we depart from the port along the majestic Upper Madre de Dios River. Swift registration ensures a seamless adventure.
Our guided hike to Lake Sandoval, approximately 1.5 hours, reveals the secrets of the rainforest with interesting stops. A graceful transition awaits at the lake shore. Glide in a canoe through the enchanting zipzap canyon, delving into the heart of Lake Sandoval.
Experience a living tapestry as vibrant flora and fauna unfold. Exotic birds adorn the sky, monkeys frolic, and the symphony of nature serenades your senses. Witness the fascinating dance of reptiles, amphibians, and arachnids, alongside the glide of turtles and the enigmatic black caiman.
A delicious jungle lunch known as Juanes rejuvenates us. Energized, we resume our exploration by canoe, discovering hidden treasures along the waterways. Contemplate prehistoric hoatzins, elegant cormorants, and anhingas, and perhaps the resilient River Otter family.
Twilight gives way to a new adventure: caiman spotting. A captivating boat ride highlights nocturnal caimans. Riverbanks transform into a theater of shadows, illuminated by gleaming eyes. Witness the appearance of white and dwarf caimans, accompanied by nocturnal birds and enigmatic mammals.
As the night’s charm persists, we return to our lodge, embraced by the soothing embrace of the rainforest. Immerse yourself in sleep, dreams colored by the wonders of the day.
Day 3: Amazon Tours – Canopy Zip Line – Hanging Bridge and Kayak
After a delightful breakfast, our day of Amazonian thrills begins. A short 20-minute boat ride takes us downstream to our action-packed adventure.
Canopy Walkway: Embark on a forest walk (200 meters) leading to the majestic Canopy Tower. Rising 35 meters, it stands beneath the towering LUPUNA tree, an Amazon icon living for over 500 to 600 years. Marvel at birds and natural beauty while your guide shares insights about local flora and fauna.
Zipline Excitement: Adrenaline surges as we transition from the Hanging Bridge to the heart-pounding zipline. Our expert guide ensures your safety as you glide down a 190-meter-long line. Reach the other end where an assistant helps you across a small bridge, completing the loop.
Following these exhilarating activities, we return for a satisfying typical jungle lunch.
Kayaking Adventure: Refreshed and invigorated, the kayak adventure beckons. Launching from the lodge, we navigate the waters with kayaks, paddles, and life jackets. Our accompanying boat leads the way, creating a safe environment for you to bask in the tranquility and bathe in the cooling waters of the Madre de Dios River.
Night Jungle Exploration: As day transitions to night, our journey continues with a guided walk through the jungle. The moon’s glow illuminates your path as you uncover the mysteries of the rainforest after dark.

Day 4: Amazon Tours – Parrot Clay Lick and Return to Puerto Maldonado
An early start promises an extraordinary conclusion to your Amazon adventure. Rise at 4:30 a.m. as we embark on a boat journey to a truly enchanting destination:
Upon arrival, we position ourselves strategically at a respectful distance, eagerly awaiting the vibrant spectacle. Several species of parrots and, hopefully, magnificent macaws make their graceful appearance. Marvel at the stunning blue-headed parrots, auroras, parakeets, and other fascinating bird species.
For about an hour, you’ll be captivated by this fascinating display, capturing memories through films and photographs. As the jungle awakens to the embrace of dawn, the sight of these colorful avian inhabitants against the backdrop of a jungle sunrise is a feast for the eyes.
Around 7:00 a.m., our journey returns us to our lodge for a final breakfast, a delicious meal bidding farewell to the flavors of the Amazon. We then set course back to the city of Puerto Maldonado, where your Amazon expedition concludes.
