Amazonia Lodge Casa Sandoval
Amazonia Lodge Casa Sandoval is located on one of the most beautiful lakes in Peru—a vast, protected body of water within the Tambopata National Reserve. The lake is home to a family of giant river otters, an endangered species, and during our stay there is an excellent opportunity to observe them in their natural habitat.
The shores of the lake are surrounded by tropical rainforest and seasonally flooded Mauritia palm forests. These ecosystems shelter six species of monkeys and an impressive diversity of colorful and native birdlife.
A visit to the Tambopata National Reserve allows us to explore Sandoval Lake Reserve Lodge and its surroundings, observe an extraordinary abundance of wildlife, and learn about the unique ecosystems of the Amazon rainforest.
Our program includes daytime and nighttime walks along forest trails, as well as canoe excursions along the edges of this exceptionally beautiful lake.

Main Activities
Amazonia Lodge Casa Sandoval Jungle Explorations
Walk along forest trails surrounded by towering trees, palms, and lianas while immersing yourself in the region’s rich biodiversity. During these excursions, you may observe capuchin monkeys, toucans, and vividly colored butterflies.
Your naturalist guide will also share insights about medicinal plants and explain the essential role animals play in maintaining the balance of the Amazon ecosystem.
Catamaran Ride on Sandoval Lake
Aboard a comfortable catamaran, glide across the calm waters of the lake. Keep an eye out for giant river otters, as well as herons, kingfishers, and caimans resting near the shoreline.
This activity is ideal for enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and capturing stunning photographs.
Wildlife Observation

Amazonia Lodge Casa Sandoval – Nature Trip
Sandoval Lake Reserve: Sandoval Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in Peru; a large protected body of water in the Tambopata National Reserve. It is home to a family of endangered giant otters, but we have an excellent chance of seeing them during our stay. The shores of the lake are populated by jungle and flooded Mauritia palm forests, which are home to monkeys of six different species, as well as a variety of colorful birds. This visit to the Tambopata National Reserve allows us to look out at Sandoval Lake and the surrounding area where we will see an abundance of wildlife in the reserve and learn about the Amazon rainforest. Our program includes walks along the forest trails by day, at night, and through canoe excursions around the margins of this beautiful and extraordinarily beautiful lake.
