Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Amazon Lodge – Cocha Caimán
Your 4-day Amazon adventure begins in Puerto Maldonado, known as one of Peru’s gateways to the extraordinary biodiversity of the Amazon rainforest.
Upon arrival, your guide will meet you at the airport and accompany you to our office, where you will complete the necessary registration before beginning your journey into the jungle.
We will then travel to the main river port, Capitanía, where a motorized boat will be waiting for us. From here, we will navigate along the Bajo Madre de Dios River, surrounded by spectacular Amazonian landscapes.
During the boat journey, keep your eyes open for wildlife along the riverbanks. Depending on the season and conditions, you may have the opportunity to see capybaras, caimans, turtles, herons, cormorants, and other Amazonian birds and animals.
After reaching the lodge, you will be welcomed with a refreshing tropical fruit drink before being shown to your private bungalow. Once settled in, we will enjoy a delicious lunch featuring local flavors.
Afternoon: Cocha Caimán
After lunch, our first jungle excursion begins. Accompanied by a specialized naturalist guide, we will follow a rainforest trail through lush vegetation toward Cocha Caimán, a small lagoon known for its caiman population.
As evening approaches, we will search for black caimans and spectacled caimans, as well as birds and other wildlife around the lagoon.
On our return to the lodge, we will have the opportunity to admire an unforgettable Amazon sunset, when the sky and river are transformed by warm tropical colors.
After dinner, the evening is yours to relax. Spend some time in the lodge’s bar or enjoy the games and social areas before retiring to your bungalow.

Day 2: Lake Apu Victor – Amazon Rainforest – Monkey Island
Wake up to the sounds of the Amazon rainforest, with birds calling from the surrounding forest and, if you’re lucky, the distinctive calls of howler monkeys.
After breakfast, we begin a morning hike into the primary rainforest. We will follow natural jungle trails and cross small streams and waterways using bridges and other appropriate crossings.
This excursion provides an excellent opportunity to learn about the Amazon ecosystem while observing the incredible diversity of tropical plants, trees, insects, birds, and other wildlife.
Lake Apu Victor
Our destination is Lake Apu Victor, a beautiful Amazonian lagoon surrounded by towering trees and wetlands.
From the Amazon viewpoint, we can enjoy a panoramic view over the lake and surrounding forest. This is also an excellent location for wildlife observation.
Depending on local conditions and wildlife activity, we may see parrots, macaws, toucans, herons, hoatzins, turtles, caimans, and other species. The area is also known for the possibility of encountering the giant river otter, although wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed in the wild.
After the excursion, we return to the lodge for lunch and some time to rest.
Afternoon: Monkey Island
In the afternoon, we take a short boat ride to Monkey Island, located in the Madre de Dios River.
This unique environment provides an opportunity to observe several species of monkeys in their natural habitat. Depending on the day and conditions, you may encounter spider monkeys, capuchins, squirrel monkeys, and other Amazonian wildlife.
We will also keep watch for other rainforest inhabitants, including coatis, sloths, and numerous species of birds.
As the day comes to an end, we will enjoy the beautiful colors of another Amazon sunset before returning to the lodge for dinner.

Day 3: Amazon Explorer – Cocha Perdida

Today, we follow jungle trails deeper into the forest with our experienced local guide. The excursion takes us toward Cocha Perdida, an Amazonian lagoon surrounded by wetlands, flooded forest, and an extraordinary variety of plant and animal life.
As we explore, our guide will help us identify wildlife and explain the fascinating relationships between the rainforest’s plants, animals, rivers, and seasonal wetlands.
Depending on weather, water levels, and wildlife activity, we may have opportunities to see turtles, caimans, birds, monkeys, fish, and other Amazonian species. With considerable luck, visitors may even encounter signs of larger mammals such as tapirs or big cats, although sightings of elusive species such as jaguars are extremely rare.
Canoe Exploration
After exploring the trails, we will reach an Amazon viewpoint where we can appreciate the vastness of the surrounding rainforest.
We will then board a traditional canoe to explore the lagoon from the water. This peaceful excursion provides another perspective of the Amazon ecosystem and additional opportunities for wildlife observation.
After the excursion, we return to the lodge for lunch.
Afternoon: Botanical Garden or Amazon Pool
In the afternoon, you can choose between another educational experience or some well-deserved relaxation.
