Full-Day Sandoval Lake Tour

The tour begins at approximately 9:00 a.m., with pickup from your hotel or the bus terminal in Puerto Maldonado. Before departing, you can leave your heavy luggage at our office.

We will then head to the port, where we will board a boat and navigate for approximately 50 minutes along the Madre de Dios River, enjoying the scenery and observing wildlife along the riverbanks.

Upon reaching the entrance to the Tambopata National Reserve, we will begin an approximately 3-kilometer hike through primary rainforest. Along the way, our guide will explain the Amazon’s flora, fauna, and conservation efforts. Tambopata National Reserve 

We will then arrive at a small port, where we will switch from the motorized boat to a paddle canoe. We will quietly navigate through the waterways until reaching Sandoval Lake, enjoying its beautiful scenery while looking for different animal species in their natural habitat.

Different species of monkeys.

We will start the tour by picking you up from your hostel and heading to Puerto Capitanía. From there, we will board a motorboat to navigate the majestic Madre de Dios River. During the 50-minute journey, we will observe the diverse Amazonian wildlife along the riverbanks, including turtles, caimans, lizards, and other species.

Upon arrival at the control point of the Lago Sandoval Reserve, we will complete the mandatory registration before starting a 3 km hike through the jungle. This walk will lead us to the beautiful  Amazon Rainforest , where we will board

a rowing canoe to cross its calm waters and reach our lodge located inside the reserve.

After settling into our rooms, we will enjoy a delicious lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, we will return to the lake to explore and observe some of the area’s most iconic wildlife:

• Giant river otters
• Black caimans
• Prehistoric birds, such as the unique Shansho
• Herons, cormorants, and kingfishers

We will then return to the lodge for a short rest. After sunset, we will embark on an exciting night canoe excursion to observe the caimans, nocturnal animals known for their sharp vision in the dark. Our professional naturalist guide

At the end of this unforgettable experience, we will hike back to the control point, where our boat will be waiting to

  Unforgettable Adventure Amazon Rainforest :Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, either at the airport or the bus station, you will be greeted by our professional tour guide, who has in-depth knowledge of the rainforest. From there, we will transfer you to our main office, where we will provide you with rubber boots suitable for the muddy trails, especially useful during the rainy season (December through April).

From there, we will begin an exciting 50-minute motorized canoe ride to our ecolodge in the middle of the jungle. Once at the lodge, we begin the first adventure of the day: a canopy walk (high-altitude hanging bridges) and then an exciting zipline experience, built between giant trees. From the top, you will enjoy unparalleled panoramic views of the pristine rainforest and have the opportunity to observe birds, monkeys, insects, and other native species.

At the end of this activity, we’ll return to the lodge to enjoy a traditional Amazonian lunch. Today I pick up either from your hotel or bus terminal in Puerto Maldonado and then transfer to the port, we board a motorboat again and navigate down the

Madre de Dios River watching animals such as turtles, caimans, lizards and others around its shores.

After about half an hour, we get to a checkpoint of the  trips.

We pass a check and start walking for 3 km to reach Tours  where we take a canoe bringing us to the Tours  , There, we accommodate

ourselves and after lunch we return sailing the lake to see its typical inhabitants – giant river

otters, black caimans, a prehistoric bird shansho, herons, cormorants, kingfisher, etc.

For dinner, we return to the lodge to later get back to the lake again, this time to undertake an evening caiman

observation because caimans are nocturnal animals.
