At this hour, giant river otters are most active, making this the perfect time to observe them in their natural habitat. You’ll also have the chance to spot hoatzins, a prehistoric-looking bird, and other wildlife along the lake’s edges.
After returning to the lodge for a hearty breakfast, we venture into the jungle for a guided walk through the lush rainforest. This immersive experience will introduce you to a variety of species, including monkeys, toucans, peccaries, and maybe even tapirs. We then return to the lodge for breakfast before embarking on a guided jungle walk to spot more wildlife. Depending on the time of day, you may encounter wild boars, tapirs, deer, and even spectacled bears.
After lunch at the lodge, enjoy some free time to relax or take a refreshing swim in the lake. Rest assured, Lake Sandoval is piranha-free during daylight hours, making it safe for a refreshing dip.
In the afternoon, we head back to the lake to catch a breathtaking sunset from the water. As the day turns to night, we embark on a moonlit boat ride to spot alligators lurking in the shadows.
