ITINERARY
Native Community Palma Real 5 days
Day 1: Native circuit and cultural exchange with the Curaca
Native Community Palma Real – We will head to the Tambopata River pier to board the river transport that will take us downstream on the Madre de Dios River. An impressive journey of 3 hours and 30 minutes awaits us, during which we can observe along the river banks a vast expanse of Amazonian vegetation, adorned with birds of multicolored plumage. Continuing our journey, we will see houses with palm leaf roofs of natural inhabitants like artisanal fishermen, being the first source of economic income for the Amazonian city.
Continuing the journey, before arriving at the native community, we will see that it is settled on a plateau of clayey terrain, of ochre red color, at a height of approximately eighty meters, which gives it an impressive and imposing vision, free from the onslaught of floods during the winter seasons… Along the way, we will have a delicious Amazonian delicacy for lunch, accompanied by a pleasant beverage.
Once we arrive at the native community, we will be warmly welcomed by friendly people, who will be amazed by your visit, as the community is isolated from the city. Immediately, we proceed to set up our tents in our two-story cabin equipped with mosquito netting to counteract possible mosquito bites. Our cabin is equipped with basic toilet facilities; once the respective recognition is done, we will have a safety talk led by the native guide before entering the living jungle, where an infinity of surprises awaits us.
We begin our adventure through the jungle, delving into its depths, recognizing plants of medicinal and esoteric nature such as: antipyretic cane, antibiotic dragon’s blood, antide-pressant paca water, sanative sano sano, which is both anti-inflammatory and antipyretic, aphrodisiac ayahuasca, and exotic fruits like aguaje, unguravi, pijuayo, casharana, chimbillo, huabilla, etc.
We will have the opportunity to appreciate the chestnut, a tree that provides us with the sustenance of the mother jungle, the rubber tree from whose resin rubber is extracted and used as fuel. Continuing our tour, we will be able to appreciate some species that will surprise us in the thickness of the jungle, birds and insects everywhere.
On the first night, we will have a cultural exchange with a very important person who possesses all the qualities required to express to us the events and facts of the past that constitute the reality of the community.
Day 2: Native fishing, nighttime bonfire, and jungle .
We embark towards the Palma Real river, where we will engage in native fishing that requires skill and special ability. The native guide will demonstrate fishing with bow and arrow, and visitors can take part in the fishing equipment with the necessary precautions. In the fishing activity, we could catch species such as: palometa, doncella, paco, mota, lisa, chambira, turuchuqui, etc.
In the afternoon, we will have an experiential experience with the members of the community, sharing their customs and traditions. We will observe attentively and carefully to acquire some knowledge about their behaviors.
At night, we will have a nighttime bonfire, where we will prepare the succulent paichipango or patarashca. We will taste this regional food while listening to stories, tales, and legends of the chuyanchaqui, the allay mama, the juanequillo, treasures kept by our mother jungle.
Day 3: Tour to Lake Valencia and activity within the community
Very early we will depart for “Lake Valencia”, a treasure of our Amazon that holds in its depths species of incalculable value. 20 minutes downstream on the Madre de Dios River, we will enter through the mouth of a winding stream, where we will observe migratory birds, exotic birds, primates, and other species. Once we arrive at Lake Valencia, we will appreciate a silent mirror that our immortal Amazon provides us, with transparent waters and tinted by sunlight. We will carefully observe the species that inhabit the immense lake such as: prehistoric shanshos birds, macaws, herons, woodpeckers, toucans, and primates like: wasitas, machin, maquisapa, koto, pelejo.
We will observe artisanal fishermen since Lake Valencia is a rich source of fish abundance such as: paiche, sungaro, dorado, doncella, maparate, chambira, turuchuqui, sapamama, yahuarachi, etc. Once we reach the other end of the lake, we will disembark and have an exuberant walk back, observing flora and fauna, appreciating the vegetation and the animals that inhabit the surroundings of the lake, until we reach the banks of the Madre de Dios River. In the afternoon, upon arriving at the native community, we will be able to live again unforgettable moments with the residents of the community.
At night, we will have a night walk, where we will appreciate night butterflies, tarantulas, fireflies, trees with phosphorescent leaves, and much more.
Day 4: Collection of seeds and barks for artisanal production.
After enjoying breakfast, we will enter the depths of the Amazon jungle to collect seeds, fibers, and barks: such as misa fiber, tamichi fiber, sanipanga leaves, ubos seeds, seje, mahogany bark, annatto, etc.
Returning with the materials, we will proceed to carry out artisanal production with the help and skill of the community residents. The long-awaited moment will come to observe and participate in the production of bracelets, beads, and baskets originating from the ESE-EJA Amazonian Community.
At night, we will have a typical dinner and nighttime bonfire.
Day 5: Farewell to the residents and return.
