Day 1: Puerto Maldonado Airport and Lake Sandoval Reserve

Arrival at Puerto Maldonado airport/bus terminal.
Greeting by our guide and transfer to the tour office for registration.
Leave heavy luggage at the office and take necessary items for the tour.
Transfer to the main port to board an outboard boat.
Descend down the Madre de Dios River to the checkpoint.
Register and start a 3-kilometer guided walk with stops to observe wildlife.
Board a canoe through a canyon to reach the hostel.
Accommodation in private rooms.
Afternoon canoe exploration of Lake Sandoval, observing wildlife.
Return to the hostel.
Dinner and nighttime activity on Lake Sandoval to observe nocturnal species.
Overnight in private rooms.

Day 2: Exploring the Nature of Sandoval Giant River Otters -Amazonia Peru Casa Sandoval  .

Early morning wake-up to the songs of birds.
Breakfast and visit to the lake to witness the sunrise.
Search for the family of giant otters.
Wildlife observation including monkeys, black caimans, and various bird species.
Return to the hostel for lunch.
Free time for a refreshing swim in the lake.
Afternoon jungle exploration with a guided walk through the primary forest.
Observation of giant trees and local flora and fauna.
Return to the hostel for dinner.
Nighttime expedition to observe nocturnal creatures.
Rest in private rooms.

Day 3: Exploring the Flora and Fauna of the Reserve –

Early morning canoe ride to a special location where parrots and macaws congregate.
Witness the feeding spectacle of the birds.
Paddle canoe on the lake for wildlife observation.
Breakfast at the hostel.
Cross the lake to explore the primary floodplain forest.
Admire ancient trees and different kinds of lianas.
Return to the hostel for lunch and some relaxation time.
Afternoon exploration along the lake in search of monkey troops.
Spectacular sunset experience.
Dinner at the hostel.
Optional excursion after coordination with your guide.

Day 4: Return to Puerto Maldonado – Airport or Bus Station

Breakfast at the hostel.
Pack belongings and take a rowing canoe back to the port.
Walk to the checkpoint and board an outboard boat to Puerto Maldonado.
Transfer to the tour office to collect belongings.
Transfer to the airport/bus terminal for departure.

 

ITINERARY

Amazonia Peru Casa Sandoval Lake 4 days

DAY 1 PUERTO MALDONADO AIRPORT AND LAKE SANDOVAL RESERVE.

Arrival in the city of Puerto Maldonado. Reception by our guide at the Airport/Bus Terminal, transfer to the office to register and where you can leave your heavy luggage and take what you need for the tour, then transfer to the main port where an outboard boat awaits us.
We will begin the descent down the Madre Dios River to the checkpoint. Where you will register to begin the 3 kilometer walk, our guide will make stops at the most important points where you can observe different species.
Then we will arrive at a small port to board the canoe through a canyon that will take us to the next port where our hostel is located, accommodation in your room.
In the afternoon we will board the canoe to explore the lake where we will have ample opportunity to observe wildlife.
alligators, turtles, birds, in this flooded palm forest we can see hundreds of red-bellied macaws, parrots, parakeets and some species of monkeys. Return to our hostel.
After dinner we will do the night activity at Lake Sandoval. For this activity we will take the rowing canoe again, where we will have another opportunity to observe nocturnal species such as alligators, birds and some nocturnal monkeys and large animals.

DAY 2 EXPLORING THE NATURE OF SANDOVAL GIANT RIVER OTTERS.

A very early awakening with the songs of the birds – then we will have the typical breakfast to go visit the lake and be able to contemplate a very beautiful sunrise and we will hope to see the family of giant otters that are very active at this time. Giant otters must eat an average of 8 pounds of fish per day (4 kilos). This paradise called Lake Sandoval offers an abundance of wildlife, such as the 6 species of monkeys, black caimans, more than 40 species of birds resident on the shores. of the lake, the 5 species of Kingfisher and the most abundant group of Hoatzin (like the prehistoric bird), All the animals here lead a very peaceful life and are very easy to take the best photographs from our canoe.
Return to the hostel to enjoy a typical lunch
At midday we will have free time to take a refreshing swim in the lake.
In the afternoon we will go out to explore the jungle, we will walk along the trails within a primary forest to see giant trees such as the ceiba and the Brazil nut, the two largest trees in the Amazon that are more than 500 years old. Our guide will show you how we openly collect and market this extremely important product for our local economy. We will have the opportunity to see different species such as monkeys, sloths, birds, armadillos, and some large animals.
We return to our hostel for dinner.
Then we will continue our night expedition taking different trails to observe frogs, toads, tarantulas, night monkeys and other species.
Rest in your private rooms.

DAY 3: EXPLORING THE FLORA AND FAUNA OF THE RESERVE.

Today we will get up very early to visit a special place, we will take the canoe to row to cross the lake then we will take a 1 kilometer walk along a path until we reach a special place where every morning parrots and macaws congregate to eat this bark of trees that are very rich in minerals, dozens of red-bellied macaws and blue and yellow macaws that take turns eating these dry palm trees and others that are dead that kill each other. After this spectacle, we will return to paddle our canoe on the lake and we will have the opportunity to observe wildlife of different species.

After enjoying breakfast, we will cross the lake to explore an impressive primary floodplain forest and admire the impressive giant and ancient trees that were developed many years ago and different kinds of lianas, some of them are strong enough to climb. and swing like a trace.

Return to the hostel for lunch.
then we will take some nap time
In the afternoon, which is very cool, we will return once to explore along the lake in search of the large troops of monkeys, in the afternoon we will also experience a spectacular sunset, which is the most beautiful thing, it will be a magical setting.

DAY 4: RETURN TO PUERTO MALDONADO – AIRPORT OR BUS STATION.

Today after our breakfast we will pack our things to take the rowing canoe back to the next port. Then we will make the 3 kilometer walk to the checkpoint, where an outboard boat awaits us to navigate up the Madre de Dios river to the city of Puerto Maldonado, we will immediately go to our office to take things – then transfer to the airport/land terminal
