Amazonia Jungle Tours 2 days
The trek Amazonia Jungle Tours through the jungle eventually leads to a small port. Here, participants will transition to a rowing canoe, a traditional mode of water transport that allows for a serene and non-intrusive approach to
exploring the reserve’s pristine environment. This canoe journey promises a unique perspective of the landscape,
enabling travelers to get even closer to the flora and fauna that call the Sandoval Lake Reserve home.
Day 1: Puerto Maldonado to Amazonia Jungle Tours
Warm Welcome: Upon your arrival at Puerto Maldonado airport or coach terminal, our Representative will greet
you warmly and escort you to our office for baggage storage.
River Journey: Board a motorboat at the local port and embark on a scenic journey down the Madre de Dios River. Keep an eye out for diverse wildlife along the riverbanks, including turtles, birds, monkeys, lizards, and caimans.
Foot Journey: Arrive at the Sandoval Lake Reserve checkpoint and begin a 5-kilometer trek through the tropical
jungle, immersing yourself in the sights and sounds of the Amazon.
Canoe Exploration: Reach Sandoval Lake and embark on a canoe ride across its serene waters to the Lodge.
Wildlife Encounter: After settling in and enjoying lunch, return to the lake for an exploration of its unique inhabitants, such as giant river otters, black caimans, and colorful bird species.
Evening Adventure: Return to the lodge for dinner, followed by a guided evening caiman observation excursion to
observe nocturnal wildlife.
Day 2: Adventure Canopy Walkway and Zipline to Puerto Maldonado
- Early morning, witness the captivating sunrise at Lake Sandoval, surrounded by flourishing palm trees in the water.
Explore the Macaw Palm Tree area (Collpa de Palmeras), where various species of macaws and parrots feed on palm tree sawdust rich in essential minerals.
Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast.
After breakfast, paddle back to the lodge and then hike to the entrance point of the Sandoval Lake reserve.
Board an outboard boat to embark on adventure tours.
Experience the canopy walkway, a 40-meter hanging bridge offering views of diverse bird species and the Amazon.
Enjoy the adrenaline-filled zipline adventure, soaring through the tropical forest at a height of 40 meters.
After these exhilarating activities, return to Puerto Maldonado.
Transfer to Puerto Maldonado Airport/Terrestrial terminal for onward travel arrangements.
ITINERARY
Amazonia Jungle Tours 2 days / 1 nights
Day 1: Puerto Maldonado to Amazon Jungle Tours
Upon arrival in the city of Puerto Maldonado, our guide will be waiting 30 minutes at the Airport/Land Terminal, transfer to our office to register and you could leave your large luggage, carry for the 2-day tour and personal use. articles and more. Transfer to the port where our outboard boat awaits us and navigate the Madre de Dios River. Along the way we observed various species such as turtles, birds, alligators and some etc. Then we will arrive at the Reserve checkpoint from there we will begin the 3 km walk (1 hour and a half) making stops during the walk.
Then we will arrive at the port where we will take a rowing canoe that will take us for 50 minutes to our hostel and accommodation in their respective rooms. Then we will return paddling the lake in a canoe to see its typical inhabitants: such as giant river otters, black caimans, turtles, prehistoric birds called the shansho, herons, cormorants, kingfishers. On the way back to the lodge we will enjoy a beautiful sunset spectacle. .
In the afternoon we will explore the jungle by taking walks in the tropical and virgin jungle. Watching birds, anteater monkeys, armadillos and some large animals and medicinal plants and giant trees, orchids, ferns, etc.
After dinner I return to the lake again to observe different nocturnal species such as alligators, nocturnal animals, birds and other species. On the way back we will take a short walk where we will observe frogs, toads, tarantulas and some nocturnal animals. Our naturalist Tour Guide will explain to us about these animals.
We will spend the night at the hostel.
Day 2: Adventure Canopy Walk Way -Zipline to Puerto Maldonado
An early sunrise takes us to the captivating surroundings of Lake Sandoval, where a thriving variety of palm trees flourish in the water, creating a swamp-like environment. Known as the Macaw Palm Tree (Collpa de Palmeras), this area attracts species of macaws and parrots that consume palm tree sawdust, a rich source of essential minerals. After this unique experience, we will return to the lodge to have a hearty breakfast.
After breakfast we will return to paddle our canoe and then hike to the entrance point of the Sandoval Lake reserve.
There our outboard boat is waiting for us to start our adventure tours such as the canopy walk way, which is a 40-meter hanging bridge where you will observe different species of birds and the Amazon, and the zipline is full of adrenaline and has a height of 40 meters. where you will slide through the middle of the tropical forest, after this activity return to the city of Puerto Maldonado and then transfer to the Airport/Terrestrial terminal.

- Mosquito repellent (DEET 35 recommended as a MINIMUM!!),
