Amazon Peru 3days within complex aspect of the Amazon, and surprisingly dark green high jungle and feeling a little claustrophobic under the dense foliage. From up above you hear Strange bird sounds and a cacophony of insects calling from the jungle.  A flock dashes or a screeching parrot above the treetops and the trees seem so far away, it is not easy to see what’s in them Supported by massive tree trunks, roots, No soil or thick shrub cover, actually it is quite easy to walk between the widely spaced trees in the Amazon jungle, except for being concerned with dangerous snakes. Lots of palm trees, some with prickly stems Russle palm fronds in the slightest breeze Occasional openings in the canopy, sunny islands surrounded by a sea of deep green shadow on amazon Tangled Growth in these sunny places Many sunfleck Vines covered everywhere, some twisted, looking like braided rope interconnecting the trees and the  incredibly vivid Butterflies,  almost neon Lizards make thick leathery

amazon green

leaves crunch as they scamper over Muddy trails, and mud sticks to your boots Hot, though the shade; oppressively humid inside the green amazon.

On the way, we observe various mammal species such as turtles, birds, lizards, monkeys, turtles, caimans, etc., until we reach a checkpoint of the Sandoval Lake Reserve and after passing a check, we start walking for 5 km (1 and half an hour) to reach Sandoval Lake where we take a canoe bringing us to the Maloka Lodge.

There, we accommodate ourselves and after lunch, we return sailing the lake in a canoe to see its typical inhabitants – giant river otters, black caimans, a prehistoric bird shansho, herons, cormorants, kingfisher, etc. Then, we return to the lodge for dinner to later get back to the lake again, this time to undertake an evening caiman observation, as caimans are nocturnal animals. Our professional naturalist Tour Guide shows and explains us about these animals. We overnight in the Maloka lodge.

Day 2:  Amazon Green – Macaw Palm Tree – Giant River Otters:

Today, we wake up very early to go to the surroundings of the Sandoval Lake where huge number of various palms grow in its water creating an area of marsh.

This place is called .Palm Tree Clay Lick (Collpa de Palmeras) and it attracts various macaw species and other parrots to eat sawdust of its palms as it contains sodium, calcium, potassium and other minerals helping them to digest. Then, we go back to the lodge to be given breakfast. Later, we take a next trip going to observe stunning flora and fauna of the Sandoval Lake Reserve.

We can appreciate monkeys, deer, wild boars, tapirs or spectacled bears, just to name a few. For lunch, we get back to the lodge. Afterwards, we have given some time off to rest or enjoy a bath in the Sandoval Lake (no worries, there are no piranhas or other danger animals during the day). Then, we board a canoe to cross the lake to a place where we can better appreciate a beautiful sunset above the lake! At 7 pm, we return to the lodge for dinner while waiting for the moonlight, a suitable time to go watching caimans again! You will have an overnight stay at the Maloka lodge.

Day 3: Amazon Green back to Puerto Maldonado:

Amazon Green – Snakes Snake

The Amazon Green is made up mostly of logs is a perfect way of life for snakes,  but the success of these colonize the Amazon rainforest. So, the ground, aquatic or semi aquatic, terrestrial and arboreal species that inhabit the Amazon Green.

Poisonous snakes are a group particularly well known to the inhabitants of the jungle. Total number about 28 species being the most feared the pallets, and shushupe coralillos. Green Amazon snakes in these vast areas stand out as the largest of the forest land types and its customs, that make a casual encounter with it is a constant threat. The parrot and the pallet machaco tree are two poisonous snakes and arboreal habits. While the venom of the bushmaster paralyzes the nervous system and muscles, the acts of the second protein decomposing and producing internal bleeding in the victim. The parties affected by the bite become gangrenous..

The boas are another large group of snakes identificabas clearly. They are mostly arboreal and lack venom glands, killing his victims by strangulation. The boa constrictor of Amazon Green is one of the best known. But the anaconda, the semi aquatic relative, is by far the best known of the Amazon jungle snake. Considered the world’s largest, the anaconda is capable of devouring whole large rodents, small deer and even young alligators Amazon Green.

AMAZON GREEN (Loro Machaco) Deadly Poison

The machaco parrot (Bothriopsis billineata) is for the most dangerous man venomous snakes of the jungle. It’s not the largest or the most deadly, but dwell in the branches of trees, mainly attacking vital areas like the face, neck and shoulders. This makes it a fearsome threat. It differs from the emerald boa, which is harmless to humans, a yellow line bordering the ventral scales that inhabits the Amazon Green

TAMBOPATA  CANDAMO AMAZON GREEN :Amazon basin in  Peru with a sub-tropical climate and distinct wet and dry seasons. It originated in the late 1970s as the small Tambopata Reserved Zone comprising about 5,000 hectares, but was much enlarged to 1.5 million hectares in 1990 and now covers altitudes from 240 to 3,500 metres, and habitats ranging from sub-tropical moist forest, to cloud forest, to tropical savannah. In September 2000 it was central in the creation of the Bahuaja-Sonene National Park which now covers 2.7 million hectares, protecting an ecosystem which holds several world records in flora and fauna species numbers and is recognised as one of the planet’s hotspots of biodiversity. Rainfall averages 2,000 mm per year and humidity is about 75%. Expedition base The expedition was based in a remote region along the Tambopata river, about 4½ hours upriver from Puerto Maldonado. Transport to and from base camp was by boat, most studies were conducted on foot or from hides. Base camp consisted of simple cabins made from wood and bamboo with basic amenities and a nearby waterfall as a ‘luxury power-shower’. Team members stayed in twos or threes inside the cabins. All meals were prepared for the team and vegetarians could be accommodated. There was no electricity at base camp.Field communications There was an Inmarsat Mini-M satellite phone at base for emergency calls. This, however, proved to be very unreliable and eventually refused to work completely. The system was later replaced by an Iridium phone which works very reliably. Motorola Radius SP10 two-way radios were used for communication around base, but their coverage was very limited. Transport & vehicles Team members had to make their own way to the Puerto Maldonado assembly point. From there transport to and from base camp was by boat, provided along with other logistical& Expeditions, Puerto Maldonado. Most studies were conducted on foot or from hides. Medical support & insurance The expedition leader was fully trained in wilderness medicine and the expedition carried a comprehensive medical kit. Further medical support was provided through a medical post in the nearest village across the river, although this post was found to be manned rarely. The nearest hospital was inPuerto Maldonado (approx. 4 hours by boat). All team members were required to carry an adequate travel insurance covering emergency medical evacuation and repatriation. There were no major medical incidents. The only minor incidents included one incident of hand lacerations from palm roots (treated by cleaning and stitching), insect bites (treated with antihistamine), and shin lacerations (by a local who came to the expedition for help and was stitched). To the credit of our cook, there were no cases of serious diarrhoea throughout the entire expedition.
